Muhammad Usaid Awan, an Economics graduate from the class of 2014, has received admission offers from the top PhD and Master's programmes. He will be joining Duke University to purse his PhD in Economics in the coming Fall. Apart from Duke, Usaid also received PhD admission offers from other competitive programmes in Boston University, University of Rochester and Michigan State University. Additionally, he was offered admissions for Master's in Economics at University of Oxford where he was awarded a prestigious Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies Scholarship, University of Cambridge and London School of Economics
Usaid exhibited excellent academic performance throughout his four years at LUMS. He graduated among the top students with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.91. At LUMS, he was involved in various research projects and teaching assistantships. Under the supervision of LUMS faculty member, Dr. Abid Burki, he successfully completed his senior year group project where he studied inequality and schooling trends in Punjab.
Since graduation, Usaid has been associated with the Institute of Development and Economic Alternatives (IDEAS). Working with renowned researchers from Princeton, LSE, and LUMS, Usaid is involved on research projects in the fields of political economy, labour economics and public service delivery.
