Development Sector Lahore - Alumni Reunion

Friday, April 21, 2017

The Lahore Univeristy of Management and Sciences (LUMS) alumni in Lahore, who are working in the development sector, held a get together at the Pepsi Dining Centre (PDC) at LUMS on Friday, April 14, 2017.

Fifteen individuals from various background and fields, working in reputable organisations like the KPK’s Education Support Programme (KESP), Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF), PMU’s Health Roadmap Team, Punjab Skill Development Project (PSDP), The Citizen’s Foundation (TCF), British Council, Acumen Fund etc. contributed their time and energy by engaging in productive discussions regarding the development sector.

The LUMS Alumni Relations Office believes that sector specific meet-ups such as this, will allow the alumni working within the development sector to network together and explore opportunities of collaboration and exciting new avenues. This recent meet up in Lahore was the second of its kind; one such meet up was also organised in Islamabad recently. These meet ups were attended by some prominent alumni who have achieved significant milestones in their careers. They shared their stories and work experiences from the development sector. More importantly, the meet-ups brought together both fresh and old graduates and allowed the alumni from older batches to guide and direct the younger individuals with possible ways of starting a career in the development sector.

“It was a pleasure to meet people from such diverse professional backgrounds that at the core upheld similar values,” said Muhammad Usman Khan, BSc 2008. “For our future meetings, I would suggest that we form working groups and address particular issues and brainstorm for different innovative projects.”

Such meet-ups are always a pleasant way to reconnect and network with fellow alumni and help build collaboration where productivity can be fostered and encouraged. The LUMS Alumni Relations Office thanks Saheem Khizar, managing partner, data consultants for taking the lead in helping organise such development sector meet-ups, and the Alumni Relations team will be organising many more such meet-ups with larger gatherings in the future.
