MS students at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE) benefit from the excellent training provided by the Department and have been receiving fully-funded PhD admission offers from renowned graduate schools in United States. While others wait for their decision to come, Saba Kanwal, Mohsin Abbas and Muhammad Abbas have accepted offers from the University of South Carolina, the University of Texas at Dallas and Southern Illinois University respectively.
Saba Kanwal, who is going to join the University of South Carolina says that LUMS is one of the best things that happened to her. “LUMS and SBASSE in particular, taught me how to think intensively and critically and realise my dreams,” she shared.
Mohsin Abbas, who accepted the admission offer from Southern Illinois University thinks that LUMS provides international level education and a platform which helps students to achieve their goals.
“The faculty at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering is actively involved in investigating sustainable solutions for fundamental and essential societal needs especially in the field of energy, health and environment. State-of-the-art research labs and high-class faculty polish every individual’s analytical and leadership skills. LUMS provides a vibrant cosmopolitan atmosphere for students which is unique in Pakistan. If you wish to pursue higher education from abroad, then opportunities are waiting for you,” said Muhammad Abbas who has been accepted to the PhD programme in Chemistry at the University of Texas at Dallas. According to Abbas, this is a dream come true.
These achievements are a reflection of the Department’s aim to produce leaders in chemical sciences by providing excellence in teaching, research training and academia-industry cooperation.
