An overwhelming response from the LUMS Community and the Corporate Sector was witnessed, as a large number of people eagerly came to attend the inspirational talk by Mr. Musadaq Zulqarnain, CEO and Chairman Board of Directors, Interloop Limited on January 25, 2018. The session was the fourth consecutive episode of a series of talks called Leaders at LUMS, hosted by the LUMS Development Office.

A mechanical engineer by professional training, Mr. Zulqarnain is a development enthusiast and philanthropist who strongly believes in the causes of women empowerment and providing equitable opportunities of education to the financially challenged youth of our community.

The talk started with Mr. Zulqarnain giving a brief on how Interloop Limited was initiated. Talking about the organisation’s commitment towards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Mr. Zulqarnain said that they have CSR targets and they consider it to be a part of their duty.

Responding to Mr. Adeel Hashmi’s question on corporate values his stance was, “One has to walk his talk. If you don’t practice what you preach, you will suffer. If you live by good values, it will have a high impact. We teach those values, we respect and invest in our people; the people who work at Intreloop, make the company what it is.”

Replying to an interesting question on what one needs to do in order to become CEO of a multi-million dollar company, Mr. Zulqarnain humbly said, “It was not me, it was all of us together. I do not consider myself a leader.” He however addressed the younger audience and said that in order to achieve your goals, you have to work hard and be ethical.

Vice Chancellor LUMS, Prof. Dr. S. Sohail H. Naqvi thanked Mr. Zulqarnain for the excellent talk and declared the wonderful corporate values upheld by Interloop Limited as “a fabulous breath of fresh air.” He told the audience that the founding fathers of LUMS have also practiced the same set of principles and have passed on the same legacy to us.

The talk concluded with Syed Babar Ali presenting a commemorative shield to Mr. Zulqarnain.
