The Summer School@LUMS held its orientation ceremony on Saturday July 15, 2017. The event started with a welcome address by Prof. Dr. S. Sohail H. Naqvi, Vice Chancellor, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). He talked to the eager audience of ninety students and their parents about the objectives of the Summer School and how its participants will be exposed to the right elements essentially required for their personality building as well as their transition from childhood to adulthood.
Then Muhammad Amer Khan Durrani, Director, General Administration and Services LUMS, gave an overview of the facilities at the University as well as the dos and don’ts regarding discipline for any students coming into the University. Later on, Maira Arooba Naeem, Programme Director of the Summer School, explained the courses in details and also introduced the faculty members, who are reputable, accomplished professionals and experts in their respective fields, to the audience.
The Summer School@LUMS, aimed at girls and boys aged between 14 to 18 years is a specifically designed programme where education has been teamed up with enjoyment. The first class has taken place on July 17, 2017. The entire course of the School promises to provide the students a unique opportunity to learn interesting new skills, engage in a wide variety of sports, adventurous activities, creative endeavours, literature workshops, analytical engagements as well as exhilarating excursions. At the end of the ceremony, the students and their parents were taken on a campus tour to further acquaint them to LUMS.
