The Rausing Executive Development Centre (REDC) at LUMS successfully completed its programme on ‘Communication for Organisational and Personal Effectiveness (COPE)’ on October 18, 2019. COPE is a four-day programme, specifically designed to help individuals become proficient in fundamental business communication methods and discover the essentials for effectively engaging teams, leadership and clients.
COPE aims to help attendees posture themselves confidently during business interactions, and market their company through effective communication and also cultivate commitment from their various stakeholders. In addition, it serves as an aid to help overcome anxiety and fear of public speaking, and impressively present yourself as a sophisticated communicator.
Spearheaded by Dr. Anjum Fayyaz, Assistant Professor LUMS, and Dr. Jawad Syed, Professor LUMS, the content for the programme was carefully chosen to help participants become influential speakers by strengthening their one-on-one communication skills, persuasive capabilities, and their ability to convey a message in the most confident and direct way. The programme included analysis of case studies, experiential exercises, group and individual presentations, class discussions of challenges at the bargaining court along with a handful of practical examples and exercises.
Participants were pleased with the programme and expressed their appreciation. Hira Anum, an employee at Pakistan Peace Collective, said, “It was an informative and well composed programme managed by a skilful team. I always seek new and contemporary philosophies of communication in the market and COPE is the programme where I have learned many things about my own self, which I overlooked before.”
Another attendee, Muhammad Amjad from Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited, echoed similar sentiments and said, “It is an excellent programme for learning communication, both oral and written. It equips you to break through the hurdles and fears while presenting in front of a larger audience.”
