EE Graduate Wins Award at the 17th Shaukat Khanum Cancer Symposium 2018

Bilal Majeed, an MS Electrical Engineering graduate won the award for "Best Poster Presentation" at the 17th Shaukat Khanum Cancer Symposium 2018 held November 2 to 4, 2018. Three posters out of a total of 178 submitted posters were selected as the best and Majeed’s poster was one of them.

Majeed is also conducting research under the supervision Dr. M. Awais Bin Altaf, faculty at the LUMS Electrical Engineering Dept. “We are working on prototyping an infrared based hand held portable off the shelf early stage breast cancer screening device. I presented the work in symposium which were done till the completion of my thesis in May 2018,” he elaborated. Majeed’s research has been funded by LUMS through Faculty Initiative Fund (FIF).

Majeed also shared that Biomedical Engineering has a lot of opportunities, funding and open problems available worldwide and urged LUMS science and engineering students to enter this exciting field.

Majeed is currently a lecturer at the Engineering Campus, The University of Faisalabad.
