A four-member delegation of the French National Assembly namely Mr. Jean-Bernard Sempastous, President of Friendship Group France-Pakistan; Ms. Annaig Le Meur, Vice President of Friendship Group France-Pakistan; Mr. Jean-Luc Reitzer, Secretary of Friendship Group France-Pakistan, Mr. Jean-Luc Reitzer, Secretary of Friendship Group France-Pakistan and Ms. Sonia Krimi, Member of Friendship Group France-Pakistan accompanied by Mr. Michael Boucault, Counsellor (Political Affairs), Embassy of France in Pakistan and Director, Alliance Francaise, Mr. Stéphane Gaillard visited Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) on Wednesday, December 13, 2017. The delegation was welcomed by Prof. Dr. S. Sohail H. Naqvi, Vice Chancellor, LUMS.
Dr. Naqvi briefed the delegation about LUMS, its five schools and the programmes it offers. The introduction was followed by a general discussion chaired by the Vice Chancellor with participation from LUMS faculty members present on the occasion including Dr. Salman Khan, Dr. Asma Faiz, Dr. Ghufran Ahmad, Dr. Ali Usman Qasmi and Dr. Mohammad Waseem on promoting awareness of the French higher education system and future academic collaborations that could be explored at the institutional level among the Pakistani and French universities.
A representative of the Marketing and Communications Office took the delegation for a campus tour which included the Moot Court at the Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law, the Gad and Birgit Rausing Library and the National Incubation Centre (NIC) housed at the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering.
The delegation appreciated the purpose built campus and the various facilities that LUMS provides to its students. They expressed their eagerness to establish ties with LUMS and said that this visit has encouraged the French delegates to initiate partnerships between LUMS and French higher education institutions.
