Five BS Biology students from the Department of Biology have received full scholarships for pursuing MS and PhD from renowned universities. Salman Saeed, Maryam Majeed and Adil Muneer have accepted offers for PhD from University of Yale, Columbia University and University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, respectively. In addition, Madiha Kaleem and Syed Aun Murtaza Zaidi have received full scholarships for MS at ETH Zurich, Switzerland and University of Delaware, respectively.
On receiving the news Dr. Muhammad Tariq, Chair SBASSE Biology programme said “Such achievements are a result of brilliant faculty, bright students, a dynamic curriculum and an open environment at LUMS which has made it possible. This news reassures us that our curriculum and our vision to produce next generation of scientists at SBASSE is paying dividends. For the last few years, we had students obtaining scholarships from Dartmouth, UPenn, Oxford, Harvard, Chicago, Duke, Texas A&M, Dartmouth, Vermont and Weil Cornell. This year we have added Yale, Columbia University, ETH Zurich, UNC-Chapel Hill and Delaware to that list. It is very pleasing for the Department to see its students flourishing around the world.”
