Translational Bioinformatics

Translational Bioinformatics

The focus of the Translational Bioinformatics group broadly focuses on developing and utilizing computational and statistical techniques for the analysis and visualization of transcriptomic data generated by high-throughput genomic technologies. This is an emerging area advancing in the facilitation of better understanding of traditional molecular biology and cutting edge clinical applications. Currently, these approaches are being applied in the identification of gene-expression signature in cytological normal buccal, nasal and bronchial epithelium that can distinguish smokers with squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (HNSCC) from matched smokers without HNSCC. Similar approaches are being used to understand other inflammatory and neoplastic airway diseases. The projects are being carried out in collaboration with Boston University Medical Center, Boston University, USA.
