Advances in semiconductor technology has made possible the fabrication of photonic structures and solid state emitters which exhibit quantum nature of light and matter. This has initiated the highly topical field of quantum technologies which deals with utilizing quantum mechanical effects for practical applications. Dr Ata Ulhaq's group aims for developing highly coherent quantum light sources which are fundamental ingredient of quantum information processing. The group is also interested in developing semiconductor nanostructures with confined single particle spins as stationery qubit devices. Apart from the applied devices, the work also concentrate on investigating quantum optical phenomena in nanostructured photonic devices.
