Having demonstrated its strength as a world-class teaching and research hub of Chemistry, the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering has now started engaging with the industry in Pakistan for the purpose of training LUMS students for industrial careers.
This aim of training LUMS students in the industrial environment is being realised through summer internships in some of the leading organisations in the region. This summer, Muhammad Kamran, LUMS MS Chemistry student, has been placed for a summer internship at Nippon Paints, which was established in 1881 in Japan, is among the leading paint manufacturers in Asia.
Another MS Chemistry student, Muhammad Sohail, has been placed for a summer internship at the DIC Pakistan Ltd. DIC is a multinational organisation with operations in more than 60 countries and territories, and deals in organic pigments, synthetic resins and related core technologies for customers in the automotive, electronics, food packaging, housing and other industries. DIC Pakistan is Pakistan's largest printing ink manufacturer.
The experience gained through these industrial internships will be a valuable addition to the profiles of LUMS Chemistry students, which will help them later in their pursuit of industrial careers.
