Syed Babar Ali, Pro Vice Chancellor of LUMS visited the ASP-LUMS office at Suleman Dawood School of Business and met with the Project team. Chief of Party ASP-LUMS Dr. Zafar Iqbal Qureshi received him at his office.
Syed Babar Ali was introduced to all the members of ASP-LUMS team and he highly appreciated the diversity and expertise of the team. He was given a presentation by Dr. Qureshi on the key deliverables of ASP-LUMS and how ASP-LUMS has been able to penetrate into the public sector of Pakistan and train more than 2000 managers of senior, middle and operational level in three years of the project. Dr. Qureshi also highlighted that ASP-LUMS had achieved much more than the targets in the cooperative agreement with USAID.
Syed Babar Ali stressed on the importance of nation building, honesty and hard work in any project. He added that ASP-LUMS Internship programme was a great step towards introducing LUMS students as to how the public sector works in Pakistan. He wanted the students to experience first-hand the working of public sector hospitals and schools and to help towards improving them.
In the closing remarks of the meeting, Dr. Qureshi thanked Syed Babar Ali for his visit and mentorship and hoped that ASP-LUMS will keep working in the direction of Syed Babar Ali’s vision of building a stronger Pakistan with honest and dedicated professionals.
Syed Babar Ali wished the team luck for their future endeavors and reiterated that integrity is what makes or breaks teams and nations. He hoped that those trained by ASP-LUMS were repeatedly reminded of their ethical and moral duty towards their motherland.
