Around 25 development professionals and LUMS alumni belonging to INGOs, donor or public organisations and the telecom sector met on April 4, 2017 at Baithak, Saidpur Village, Islamabad for an interactive meetup hosted and organised jointly by the newly elected board of LUMS Islamabad Chapter and the KPK Chapter. The event served well as a collaborative interaction in which a host of developmental issues were pinpointed by participants. These ranged from rural development to CPEC to start-up ideas, among others.
Participants lauded the sense of community which held together LUMS alumni in Islamabad from diverse age groups and professional settings. The Islamabad Chapter board members, including Taimur Saeed (President), Khadija Shahpar (Vice President) and Nabeel Tariq (Treasurer) and Khurram Rasheed (President), KPK Chapter were all present at the meetup and laid out a strategy to connect LUMS Alumni in meaningful ways in order to create an active alumni body that would contribute the most in creating more goodwill for the University in Islamabad.
On the whole, the event was very well received and provided unique opportunities for senior and junior alumni to freely share ideas, learn and connect with the LUMS community residing in the capital with hopes of similar thematic meetups in the future. Taimur Saeed thanked the participants, with special regards to representatives from the KPK chapter, and promised to uphold the prevailing sense of harmony for future initiatives.
