WIT-LUMS
Cordially invites you to the Screening of the Documentary Film
‘River Garden’
Wednesday, April 12, 2017
Imagine an Indus Basin for the 21st Century where innovative canal management and data transmission technologies monitor water Flows precisely and in real-time. To illuminate the challenges involved in realising the potentials of such a vision, a documentary ‘River Garden’ was produced to illustrate the discourse on which this vision is based. The film illuminates interesting aspects of the anthropology related to the River Indus in conjunction with the history of the architecture of the waterworks at the Shalimar Garden in Lahore. As part of a brief exploration of the social, religious, political, economic, cultural and scientific aspects shaping water systems, ‘River Garden’ also celebrates the unique role of humans playing the role of ‘gardeners’ or agents of change hand in hand with innovation, through the ages. ‘River Garden’ is an effort to galvanise the WIT-LUMS vision of developing a water-engineering interface flourishing around the Indus Waters nexus.
