Abstract
The heritable skin anomalies possess significant heterogeneity in terms of genetic architecture, molecular etiology and clinical presentation. This research was designed to address aforementioned disparities in skin disorders by studying 19 consanguineous Pakistani families. The study characterized four skin conditions for first time in Pakistani population with novel genetic findings, identified prospective avenues for follow up studies and proved to be a step forward for establishing genotypephenotype correlations. This work is published in form of six articles.
About the Speaker
Raja Hussain Ali has recently earned his PhD from Quaid I Azam University, Pakistan. As a human geneticist in past six years, he extensively studied isolated and syndromic monogenic skin anomalies in Pakistani population and authored six articles from PhD research. He had been awarded with HEC full term indigenous and short term foreign fellowship (Ghent center for medical genetics, Belgium) during PhD. His future interests lies in functional characterization of morbid human genome, in particular the neurogenome aiming to develop effective therapeutic based solutions.
