Five students from the Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law (SAHSOL) won the recent National Qualifying Rounds, beating 10 other teams from across Pakistan, for the 58th Jessup, the world’s largest moot court competition. The team, comprising of Abdul Rafay Siddiqui, Umair Ahmad, Mirza Abdul Moiz Baig, Fakhruddin Ali Valika and Mustafa Khan, also scooped up the Best Memorial and the Best Oralist (Mirza Abdul Moiz Baig) awards. The event was held on February 10-12, 2017, at the Serena Hotel in Islamabad.
The team, coached by Professor Khyzar Hussain, will be advancing to represent Pakistan in the White & Case International Rounds of the Jessup competition, which take place from April 9 to 15, 2017 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Washington, DC.
The Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition draws participants from over 500 law schools in more than 80 countries. The competition is a simulation of a fictional dispute between countries before the International Court of Justice, the judicial organ of the United Nations, and is sponsored by White & Case LLP, an international law firm based in New York City.
