Wednesday, February 22, 2017
Her Excellency Ms. Sewa Lamsal Adhikari, the Ambassador of Nepal to Pakistan, visited Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) on February 21, 2017. The Ambassador was welcomed by Dr. Kamran Ali Chatha, Associate Professor, Suleman Dawood School of Business SSRC and Ms. Sarah Karim, Manager Marketing and Communications, LUMS.

Ms. Karim briefed Ms. Adhikari about LUMS, its four schools and the programmes it offers. The presentation was followed by a general discussion on potential partnerships and collaborative opportunities between the University and the Government of Nepal. The discussion further highlighted the visa issues faced by Nepalese students and to streamline these, they should be talked about at the state level too.

Her Excellency commented, “I am here to promote educational linkages, bridge gaps and connect the dots for greater opportunities for students of Nepal. LUMS is a world-class university and I would like students from Nepal to study here.”

Ms. Adhikari was greatly impressed by the beautiful and vibrant campus. She highly appreciated the LUMS National Outreach Programme and suggested that it should also spread beyond Pakistan’s borders so that talented students from adverse backgrounds from her country may get a chance to avail quality higher education.

“Developing a stronger and long-term relationship with academic institutions in Nepal is of significant importance to LUMS. This would enrich student diversity at LUMS and bring in regional perspective. Student and faculty exchange and collaborating research on issues of mutual benefit are important areas that can be pursued between LUMS and prominent Nepalese universities. Nepal has a growing tourism industry and there are ample opportunities to develop and exchange knowledge in this domain,” said Dr. Chatha.
