SDSB-Business Linkages Programme: Visit to Packages Limited

Dr. Jawad Syed, Dean Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB), along with eleven faculty members visited Packages Limited, Lahore on Friday, January 27, 2017. This visit was part of the newly launched SDSB-Business Linkages Programme that aims to enable useful exchange of knowledge between the School and various business organisations to produce case studies, consultancies, and other forms of engagement beneficial for both the business school and the industry or service organisations.

The faculty members included Dr. Jawad Syed, Dr. Kamran Chatha, Dr. Faiza Ali, Dr. Fahd Mahmood, Dr. Farrah Arif, Dr. Atif Chaudhry, Dr. Abdur Rehman Malik, Dr. Zehra Waheed, Dr. Zainab Riaz, Dr. Omair, Haroon and Dr. Khawaja Zain-ul-Abideen.

The SDSB faculty was welcomed by the top management of Packages and presented with a brief history of the company. Later on, recent developments of customer-centred innovations in their different business units within Pakistan and abroad, key achievements, aspirations and challenges in fields as diverse as strategy, marketing, human resource management, production/operations and finance were shared by the management.

Syed Babar Ali, the founder of Packages, was also present at the occasion and encouraged the SDSB faculty for more collaboration with Packages. He was enthusiastic about providing Packages as the experiential learning platform not only for MBA and undergraduate students but also for the faculty. During the tea break, the management and faculty discussed some of the joint initiatives that could take place in the next academic year. The visit concluded with a brief tour of different departments of the factory, providing knowledge of how packaging material is produced. The faculty also made some contacts with respective functional heads.
