The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) welcomed Mr. Yuriy Fedkiw, US Consul General on November 7, 2016. Accompanied by Ms. Alyson McFarland, USAID Provincial Director and Ms. Farakh Khan, Public Affairs Officer, US Consulate General Lahore. The esteemed delegates were personally received at the Academic Block by Prof. Dr. S. Sohail H. Naqvi, Vice Chancellor LUMS and representatives of the LUMS Marketing team. The delegates were taken on a campus tour while being briefed about the University, its schools and the programmes that are offered.
The delegates were informed about the Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences (MGSHSS) and the scholarships offered to the students. As the visitors were shown around the Suleman Dawood Business School (SDSB) and its Trading Lab, they were highly impressed by the students engrossed in their work and the facilities at the Lab. They were then taken to Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law (SAHSOL) where they were shown the state-of-the-art Moot Court by Dr. Martin Lau, Dean SAHSOL. This briefing was followed by a visit to the LUMS Center for Entrepreneurship (LCE) where they met Mr. Khurrum Zafar, Director LCE. The delegation took a keen interest in the Center’s incubated start-ups. The highlight of the visit was their meeting with a group of USAID Merit Scholarship students at the SMART Lab. Areas of mutual interest were discussed and avenues for possible cooperation were also explored. Mr. Fedkiw advised students to “work harder and take on new challenges to make Pakistan a progressive state.”
