The Chevening Scholarship is the UK government’s international awards scheme aimed at developing global leaders and is funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. Available in over 160 countries and territories, these scholarships support one-year master’s degrees in any subject at any UK university.

The session was conducted to provide students with an overview of the scholarship, as well as information about the application process and eligibility criteria. Members of the Chevening management team also attended the event to speak to the students about the programme and to encourage them to apply.

Fouzia Younas, Director Communications and Public Diplomacy, Pakistan Network, British High Commission, commenced the session. She explained that the High Commission chooses to invest in the Chevening programme as it promotes leadership and aims to develop future leaders. She mentioned that Chevening Scholars tend to rise to prominent positions in their respective countries, and in their chosen fields.

Head of Chevening Scholarships, Shehla Qayyum, also spoke to the students and gave them details about the scholarship, including what it will cover and the eligibility criteria. She highlighted that the Chevening Alumni community comprises 50,000 alumni worldwide, which is a highly-regarded global network of skilled professionals working in a range of fields.

The event was especially exciting as it also included a motivating talk by Chevening Alumni, Hassan Shah. Mr. Shah talked about his experience and explained how the scholarship added value to his life and career and urged students to apply for the programme.
