Farkhanda Hanif signed a Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of her daughter, Ambreen Hamza, Class of 2006 to support a partial scholarship grant for a LUMS student from Sahiwal. Ms. Hanif was accompanied by her son, Adeel Hamza, who is a graduate of the Class of 2011. Ms. Hanif and Dr. Arshad Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, LUMS, signed the agreement on May 23, 2019, in the presence of Dr. Adnan Khan, Dean Office of Student Affairs, Nuzhat Kamran, Director Office of Advancement and the Donor Relations Team.
During their tenure at LUMS, both Adeel and Ambreen had received financial aid. Adeel shared how LUMS was a life changing experience for both the siblings. He said they wanted to give back to the institution that has been a second home for them and developed them personally and professionally. Dr. Ahmad was very impressed by their generosity and said that this spirit of giving back has made the LUMS model sustainable.
Ms. Kamran spoke about the various ways the Office of Alumni Relations keeps connected with alumni. She shared that the office is planning class reunions and has formed interest-based groups within LUMS. She invited Adeel to become a part of these groups.
Dr. Khan mentioned that LUMS is a university where there is representation from 115 cities from all provinces of the country. He elaborated that this year LUMS has received applications from 162 cities of Pakistan and added that although the backgrounds of all the National Outreach Programme scholars are different, their experiences within LUMS have mostly been the same.
