Professor Asad Abidi and Dr. Muhammad Sabieh Anwar are the workshop instructors. The workshop is designed for FSc/A-Level/College Physics teachers. Expert instructors will demonstrate how to teach concepts in Mechanics, that experience shows, are weakly grasped by even the best students. The lectures on theory will include free-body diagrams, rotational motion, and angular momentum, illustrated by examples from daily life. Demonstrations of in-class experiments will include collisions of objects tracked by a camera, acceleration measurements by a smartphone, and how Lenz's Law can affect the motion of objects. A lecture will discuss the meaning of scientific literacy, by showing concept trees of how primary and secondary school teaching links to university physics, chemistry and biology, and ultimately how this can enable a well educated person to understand the workings of nature.
