Tina Sani
After having entered the world of singing in 1980 through a TV programme hosted by popular singer, Alamgir, Tina Sani gained much popularity in Pakistan’s music industry performing the poetry of Faiz Ahmed Faiz. She was influenced by renowned ghazal singers such as Mehdi Hasan, Mukhtar Begum and Farida Khanum. Tina Sani’s musical prowess becomes evident in the ease with which she sings works of contemporary poets as well as those of age-old legends like Rumi. She won the Pride of Performance Award in 2004, the Performance Recognition Award in India in 2011, as well as the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Lux Style Awards in 2017.
