Whereas LUMS will facilitate CPPA in the provision of technical assistance such as providing suitable faculty members for electricity market professionals (EMP) course and other R&D related initiatives. The MOU targets strategic goals to facilitate capacity building in terms of power generation, and will likely have a positive impact in the power sector. LUMS also agreed to provide analytical facilities and services to CPPA on as need basis.
Speaking about the benefits of the MoU and its impact Dr. Naveed Arshad of Sustainable Energy Informatics Lab at LUMS had the following to say ‘The timing of LUMS MoU with CPPA could not have been better. Our energy sector has to go through a transformational phase keeping in view the disruptions taking place in the energy sector. Distributed generation, renewables, and smart grids are changing the century-old electric grid in a multitude of ways. It is important for us to not be sitting at sidelines of this change but to leapfrog the world in the energy sector transition. This MoU will provide exactly the same collaboration and capacity development opportunities that we need for transforming the utility grid to a smarter grid’
