Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) joined hands with Harsukh through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to aid research and outreach efforts on May 14, 2018.
The event took place at Harsukh Idara-e-Ilm o Funn at Bedian. It started with a welcome note by Mr. Jawwad S. Khawaja, Sponsor at Harsukh, who also provided a brief introduction on the objectives and operations of the institution. This was followed by a performance from the students at Harsukh, where they recited verses of Faiz and Iqbal. The students also included a dance performance, organised by Ms. Robina Khawaja, sponsor and teacher at Harsukh. Ms. Khawaja has been teaching arts for the past 35 years.
The Associate Dean of LUMS SOE, Dr. Mariam Chughtai, stated the importance of this collaboration, and how it will aid research on alternatives methods of teaching.
The MoU was signed with Mr. Jawwad Khawaja and Ms. Robina Khawaja. This collaboration between LUMS School of Education and Harsukh will move towards bridging the gap between theory and practice and will assist LUMS students and faculty to conduct research and fieldwork in the institution.
Harsukh is a proud addition to SOE’s list of partner schools under its Teaching and Learning Programme, which seeks to engage and prompt researchers and academics into quantitative and qualitative research around policy questions and classroom practices. Incoming MPhil students will benefit from field engagement and residency opportunities at partner schools.
