The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) Table Tennis Team won third position at the Higher Education Commission (HEC) All Pakistan Inter University Female Table Tennis Championship hosted by Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, from February 26 to 28 in Jamshoro, Sindh.
These intervarsity competitions are organised with an effort to provide a platform for social contact and understanding among the student players of the universities of Pakistan.
All public and private universities and degree awarding institutes recognised by the HEC have an equal right to participate in Intervarsity Sports Championships organised over a period of nine months every year - from October to June. These competitions are annually organised in 60 sports including 25 women disciplines at about 122 venues at different universities all over Pakistan.
The LUMS Table Tennis Team comprised of undergraduate students namely, Farah Omer, Saba Zaheer and Nimra Ejaz. The LUMS team won all its pool matches and emerged as number one in its respective group, beating the following universities/teams in the process:
LUMS Beat QUEST by 3-0
LUMS Beat UET by 3-0
LUMS Beat IBA by 3-0
Quarterfinal
LUMS Beat Sindh University by 3-0
The team finally competed with the University of Punjab and University of Karachi and secured third position in the championship.
