In the spirit of "ideas worth spreading," TED has created TEDx, a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connections. Our TEDx event is not organized by TED Conferences, but is operated under an official license from TED. This year we have focused on bringing out stories of people who have shattered glass-cileings, broken stereotypes and have been super-stars in life no matter what hardship came their way, hence, the theme - BREAKING STEREOTYPES. The event is going to take place as follows:

Date: 7th April 2018, Saturday

Time: 9am till 6pm

Venue: Aud B-3, SDSB Basement, LUMS

We have also LIVE Streamed our event: TEDxLUMS Livestream and are also planning to do so this year. Highlights of the previous year’s event can be viewed HEREFor more information, please take a look at: TEDxLUMS & TEDxLUMS, TEDxLUMS Facebook, TEDxLUMS Twitter, TEDxLUMS InstagramTEDx, TED

TEDx is a programme of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share ideas worth spreading. These events are branded TEDx, where x denotes that the event is independently organised. At a TEDx event, videos of TEDTalks and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection with a pre-decided theme. The TED Conference ideal provides general guidance for the TEDx programme, but otherwise, individual TEDx events are entirely self-organised by teams or institutions with speakers from the particular locality or region where the event is being held. Talks by these speakers, therefore, have the capacity to be context specific and relevant to the audience. Hence, TEDx events provide an opportunity for people to listen to speakers they can relate with.

TED is an annual event where some of the world's leading thinkers and doers are invited to share what they are most passionate about. "TED" stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design — three broad subject areas that are, collectively, shaping our future. In fact, the event is broader still, showcasing ideas that matter in any discipline. Attendees have called it "the ultimate brain spa" and "a four-day journey into the future". The diverse audience — CEOs, scientists, innovators, philanthropists — is almost as extraordinary as the speakers, which have included Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Frank Gehry, Paul Simon, Sir Richard Branson, Philippe Starck and Bono sharing their powerful ideas. The purpose behind the event is to present talks that are entertaining, informative and inspirational for everyone to make it easier to relate and connect with them. It is for this reason precisely that attracts wide audiences across the world.
