LUMS Alumnus Leads Discussion on Educational Prospects in Australia

The Office of Advancement joined hands with the Career Services Office (CSO) on the evening of Monday, April 22, 2019 for a session on the educational prospects for students and alumni in Australia. The gathering was led by LUMS alumnus, Dr. Omar Mubin (BSc 2004) along with his colleagues Dr. Aila Khan, Senior Lecturer at Western Sydney University, and Sabeeh Qayyum, In-Country Manager (Pakistan) at Innovative Research Universities (IRU), Australia. They presented an overview of academic prospects and discussed different career pathways and possibilities in Australia.

Dr. Mubin and Dr. Khan gave an overview of options for both Masters and PhD programmes at Western Sydney University, and also talked about the scholarships available. Ms. Qayyum provided details about IRU, a network of seven comprehensive universities in Australia, which undertakes advocacy initiatives on issues related to higher education, research and university students.
Dr. Mubin and Dr. Khan also shared information about ongoing research on robots in retail environments. They also brought a robot and showcased its amazing features to everyone.

The evening ended with an interactive Q&A session, at the end of which Dr. Mubin and his colleagues shared their contact details and extended help to all present.
