Two Faculty Positions: Assistant Professor in Political Economy and/or Politics
Department of Humanities and Social Sciences Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) Lahore, Pakistan The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at LUMS invites applications for two tenure track faculty; Assistant Professor/Associate Professor in its Political Economy and Politics program. The Politics stream in the Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences (MGSHSS) at LUMS offers the BSc (Honours) Political Science degree and the BSc (Honours) Politics and Economics, the latter a joint major taught by faculty from both Political Science and Economics. Both programs encourage students to examine the globalising world using a variety of conceptual lenses supplied by the social sciences, learn multiple ways of solving problems, and explore areas of inquiry that intersect traditional disciplines.
Of the two planned hires, one will be a joint appointment between Politics and Economics, will be required to teach in both programs, and will have a strong quantitative background. Ideally, the second candidate will have a specialization in International Relations or Comparative Politics. For the second candidate too, the ability to teach quantitative methods would be an asset.
Both candidates should show a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching (three courses per year), and an active research and publishing agenda in the areas of (but not limited to) Political Economy, International Relations or Comparative Politics. The geographical area of expertise is open, however, we will especially encourage candidates who have a teaching and research focus on South Asia to apply.

Faculty Position in Anthropology
The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences (MGSHSS), Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Lahore, Pakistan, invites applications for full-time faculty of all ranks (Assistant Professor [tenure track], Associate Professor, Professor) in the area of Social/Cultural Anthropology. Candidates should be able to offer a variety of undergraduate core course such as Introduction to Cultural Anthropology, Research Methods and Classical Anthropological Theory, as well as more specialized courses within their area of specialization. The successful candidate will be required to teach undergraduate students (three courses a year), achieve high standards of research, serve on departmental/university committees, and provide input for the development and expansion of the Anthropology Sociology Major at LUMS. The appointment will commence in Spring or Fall of 2021. Candidates should have a doctoral degree in Social/Cultural Anthropology at the time of appointment.
