Yotascale, a successful company which applies machine learning and data science to cloud systems management, shared its journey from founding to raising funds at a session in LCE, LUMS on August 23, 2016.
The interactive session was conducted by Mr. Asim Razzaq, who is the co-founder and CEO of the company. He talked about how he scaled his business, how incubators help in making networks and finding investors, and gave valuable tips on investment. He spoke about the right time to raise funds and how to deal with investors.
Mr. Razzaq also talked about raising funds from big investors including former Foundation Capital partner and VMWare executive Ashmeet Sidana, former VP Engineering at VMWare and Director at Facebook Jocelyn Goldfein and former CEO Oracle On Demand and Stanford Cloud Computing professor Timothy Chou.
Mr. Razzaq also reflected on his prior experiences. Prior to Yotascale, Mr. Razzaq has been the Senior Director Engineering at PayPal and eBay. He has led engineering functions for several early and late stage startups in Silicon Valley and Austin. Accompanying him on the session was Mr. Abbas Yousafzai who is a co-founder and CTO of YotaScale. Before Yotascale, Mr. Yousafzai was the CEO and Chief Architect at Conrad Labs where he helped several startups scale their business, resulting in several acquisitions in the cloud and software security space. He is also a regular mentor at LUMS Center for Entrepreneurship.
The session concluded with an interactive discussion where both Mr. Razzaq and Mr. Yousafzai answered questions directed from the audience.
