Known for being the hometown of our current Prime Minister’s family, Mianwali is also the abode of academically brilliant students and keeping this fact in mind, our outreach representatives set out to visit the city and its surrounding areas from December 10-14, 2018.
Our team visited a total of 5 cities; Mianwali, Bhakkar, Dera Ismail Khan, Sargodha and Khushab and stopped over in 13 different colleges presenting to over 900 students. The aim was to raise awareness regarding the NOP Scholarship as well as guide the attendees on how to submit their applications for the NOP Summer Coaching Session 2019. Students who had previously only known Medicine or Engineering as the fields they could opt to study in, were motivated to apply to other disciplines and widen their horizons. Our team experienced an excellent turnout in these areas and was glad to know that the information sessions of the NOP were long-awaited events.
Feedback received from educational leaders in the region was extremely positive with Principal Lt. Col. (R.) Safdar A. Kazmi at Cadet College Khushab praising the quality of the presentation as well as urging the team to hold such sessions in the future as well. Senior Lecturer, Mr. Khalil-Ur-Rehman at the Government Postgraduate College, Mianwali stated that he had only heard of the NOP and after attending the presentation he could say with confidence that it would prove very beneficial for the students in these areas. Principal, Fateh Khan of the University Wensam College, Dera Ismail Khan echoed similar sentiments and was content to know students under his tutelage had been encouraged to broaden their educational pursuits.
All in all, we shall miss the scenic Soon Valley of Khushab and the plains of Bhakkar but most of all the enthusiastic students who we hope to see at the NOP Summer Coaching Session 2019 at LUMS.
