In collaboration with the LUMS Alumni Relations Office, the School of Education (SOE) Professional Development Initiative (PDI) team facilitated a customised workshop at the Summer School at LUMS on June 27, 2018. Conducted by an external trainer, Rizwan Zaidi (Global Learning and Development Expert, Telenor), the four-hour long intervention enabled the 14–18-year old participants to use the concept of ‘Design Thinking’ to look at challenging situations creatively and test their solutions before presenting them. The key objective of the workshop was to enable participants to learn how empathy, collaboration, prototyping and handling failure are valuable skills for the future.
The SOE Marketing and Admissions Team also conducted an information session on the SOE Undergraduate Minor in Education (to be offered in Fall 2019) to an audience of 200 participants at the Summer School session. The purpose of the session was to advertise the upcoming SOE academic programme to the participants who will be potential applicants to the LUMS Undergraduate Programme in the coming years. The session also served as word of mouth marketing for the fifth school at LUMS and its two upcoming academic programmes; MPhil ELM (Fall 2018) and Undergraduate Minor in Education (Fall 2019).
