Thursday, February 9, 2017

The Saida Waheed Gender Initiative (SWGI) at the Lahore University of Management Sciences is pleased to announce its second colloquium, ‘Bringing Gender from the Margins to the Center’, which will highlight student research examining issues related to the study of gender in Pakistan. We encourage research proposals that attend to the complex construction and operation of gender across different spatial and temporal contexts. This may include research on topics including, but not limited to, representations of gender in literature/film/television, the politics and economics of gender and inequality, histories of activism and organizing, debates within feminist theory, the causes and consequences of gender-based violence, the construction of gender within religious discourses, etc. However, the conference is open to papers on any topic related to the study of gender.
