The Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law (SAHSOL), in conjunction with the Punjab Judicial Academy represented by Mr. Muhammad Amir Munir, Additional District & Sessions Judge, received 25 Civil Judge and Additional Sessions Judges for a seminar on judicial independence on September 07, 2016. The topic was introduced by Prof. Dr. Martin Lau, Dean of SAHSOL, and presented and analysed by Mr. Justice (retd.) Jawwad S. Khawaja, former Chief Justice of Pakistan and Professor/Scholar in Residence at the Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Both speakers emphasised that given the central role of district and sessions courts for access to justice it was of crucial importance that their judges decided all cases in an independent and unbiased manner.
SAHSOL and the Punjab Judicial Academy are planning for further collaboration in the areas of legal research, justice sector reform and training.
