A team from the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE), LUMS won the First Runner-up trophy in the Indigenous Category at the 2018 National Engineering Robotics Contest held at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST)’s College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Rawalpindi from July 4 to 7 for its project titled, 'Alfie'.
Competing among more than 100 teams from all over Pakistan, the team outperformed through a year’s endeavour and effort and successfully acquired 100 out of 100 scores. It practically displayed the theoretical asset at the competition, making the University proud of its participants. As a token of success of their demonstrated educational skills and learnt techniques, the team successfully came home with a cash prize of PKR 70,000. LUMS is proud of its team.
Several teams from different universities around Pakistan took part in the competition. Some of the most prominent were EME, UET Lahore and Lahore Garrison University. Despite a tough competition, LUMS made it to the finals with a collaborative effort, consistent coordination and hard work by the sophomore students. Supported by Dr. Shahid Masud, Dean SBASSE, and Dr. Tariq Jadoon, Associate Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, SBASSE, participation at the competition surely allowed students a great opportunity to boost their confidence.
