The annual Dean’s Honour List Ceremony for the students of the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE) was held on Friday, November 10, 2017, where numerous students, parents and faculty members from all the School departments participated.
The ceremony commenced with a recitation from the Quran, followed by an opening address by Dr. Shahid Masud, Dean SBASSE, who congratulated the students on their outstanding performance and for making it to the Dean’s Honour List. He advised the students to acknowledge the support and guidance that they receive from their instructors at LUMS and take out time to thank them.
Dr. Tariq Mahmood Jadoon, Faculty at the Department of Electrical Engineering, who was presenting the ceremony, called each student on the stage to receive their certificates from the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. S. Sohail H. Naqvi and Dr. Shahid Masud, while the parents clapped and beamed with pride. 31 students from the class of 2018, 37 from the class of 2019 and 43 from the class of 2020 were awarded certificates.
Dr. Naqvi also addressed the students and their parents. He commended the students for their accomplishments and the parents for their right upbringing. Dr. Naqvi advised the students to explore courses offered by other schools at LUMS, besides their major.
Pro Chancellor LUMS, Syed Babar Ali was also present at the Ceremony. He addressed the students and highlighted the importance of reading outside one’s specialisation in today’s era of ‘information explosion’ to keep oneself conscious and well-informed about everything. He also encouraged the students to make the most of the facilities available at the LUMS library.
