The Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law (SAHSOL) at LUMS and the Aurat Foundation concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on November 2, 2016 at the LUMS Founders’ Room. Prof. Dr. S. Sohail H. Naqvi, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Martin Lau, Dean of SAHSOL, attended the event on behalf of LUMS, while Ms. Mumtaz Mughal, Resident Director represented the Aurat Foundation.
The Aurat Foundation, a countrywide NGO, aims to improve the status of women in Pakistan by providing training, research and advocacy. Under the terms of the MoU, the Aurat Foundation and SAHSOL will provide students with internship/externship opportunities (that are fully supervised and certified) in order to develop specialist knowledge transfer across AF and SAHSOL; collaborate on awareness raising sessions together; and come together on originating, designing and submitting research and policy grant applications, especially on the topics of human rights, law and gender.
