A new collaboration in support of the local dairy business sector was finalised between the Rausing Executive Development Centre (REDC), LUMS and Tetra Pak Pakistan in February this year. MD Tetra Pak Pakistan, Jorge Montero stated, “We are very happy to have this collaboration with LUMS. This is a very important sector of the Pakistani economy and the programme will help participants to identify opportunities of improvement.”

In relation to this learning partnership, a programme on Dairy Management took place at REDC from October 27-29, 2017. The Dairy Management programme, sponsored by Tetra Pak Pakistan as a CSR initiative aims to bring dairy entrepreneurs and managers on a learning platform thereby contributing to the overall wellbeing of this sector.

The programme brings together key dairy sector stakeholders on a single platform to learn and share best practices in dairy farm management and develop a unified understanding and vision to unleash the sector’s potential. The programme aims at building managerial competencies leading to operational efficiency, productivity enhancement, adoption of best practices, quality benchmarking and value addition to the currently commoditized dairy sector. The programme was led by Director Arif Iqbal Rana and supported in teaching by Abid Aman Burki, Fahd Rehman and an expert from HAAS University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands, Mr. Gert-Jan Duives.

The programme was very well received by a diverse group of participants from the dairy sector, financial services, seeds/pesticides, farm owners and government departments. Participants were all praised and appreciated the interactive learning, the Centre’s ambiance, teaching expertise and in-depth knowledge of the faculty team.

“It was a good, interactive learning experience. The case studies were pertinent and informative; especially those discussed by Gert-Jan Duives,” said Hammad O. Khan, Vice President, Zarai Tarqiati Bank Ltd.
