The Rausing Executive Development Centre (REDC) conducted a programme on Problem Solving and Decision Making from July 30 - August 2, 2019, led by Programme Directors, Dr. Muhammad Shakeel Sadiq Jajja and Dr. Raza Ali Rafique, who were supported in teaching by Dr. Zainab Riaz.
The programme covered a diverse range of topics linked to smart and data-driven decision making. analytic problem diagnosis and solutions. Participants learned to apply appropriate problem-solving and decision-making processes, evaluate solutions and anticipate likely risks.
Interactive sessions on even swaps, data-driven decisions, decision trees, and impactful leadership, enabled participants to identify common obstacles to effective problem-solving. Additionally, they learnt to use analysis, synthesis, and positive inquiry to address organisational problems etc.
A variety of exercises, case studies, class and group discussions further enhanced the participants’ learning experience. Talking about his experience of the programme Syed Sami Ur Rahman, Senior Relationship Manager, The Bank of Punjab, said, “It was a very engaging and interactive learning experience. The ideas which were discussed, are used in our professional and personal lives quite frequently, but we are actually not aware of these, owing to our monotonous routine. After attending this programme, these ideas were refreshed. REDC has an excellent ambience, and the sessions are very attractive in terms of participation and the audience’s experience.”
Echoing as similar sentiment Zofia Javaid, Programme Coordinator, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, LUMS, said, “The programme triggers your brain into thinking out of the box and to look for possible unconventional solutions.”
