REDC Hosts Strategic Financial Leadership Programme

Under its custom initiatives, Rausing Executive Development Centre (REDC) hosted a focused programme on, “Strategic Financial Leadership" from December 3 - 6, 2018. Designed for a leading telecom, the programme emphasised the need to embrace changing business realities in context of digitisation and its implications for the finance function.

During the 4-day engagement, the programme exposed participants to emerging trends and challenges in the industry and capabilities required to effectively serve group companies, evolve from traditional finance roles and establish themselves as strategic business partners. The programme explored complementing themes to manage change and lean operations, negotiate with partners for win- win solutions and establish trust within teams for information sharing and value creation.

The programme was directed by Dr. Farrah Arif, Assistant Professor, Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB), co-directed by Dr. Jamshed H. Khan, Professor, SDSB and supported in teaching by Dr. Syed Aun Raza Rizvi, Assistant Professor, SDSB. Over the course of the programme, experts from different areas of the organisation were asked to share their experience and knowledge to give exposure on how to identify leadership characteristics, recognise strengths and challenges for organisational change, manage group dynamics, digitalisation and role of finance as a strategic business partner.

Through hands-on exercises and dynamic discussions, it emphasised on the theory and industry's best practices to help participants master complex challenges and capitalise on emerging opportunities. To maximise participation case studies, simulations, exercises and interactive discussions were part of the programme.

The programme was well received by the participants who praised faculty’s area of expertise and ability to impart knowledge.
