Offered over the last 10 years at Rausing Executive Development Centre (REDC) LUMS, programme on Building Blocks of Human Resource Management (BBHRM) held from October 8 - 11, 2018 at LUMS has been designed to provide an interactive learning platform to executives who want to build their core understanding of HR. Directed by Dr. Abdur Rahman Malik, Assistant Professor at Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) and Dr. Anwar Khurshid, Professor (SDSB) and taught by Dr. Jawad Syed, Professor (SDSB), the programme has been developed as a foundational course to cover macro and overarching perspective on Human Resource Management.
The purpose of the 4-day programme is to provide line managers and human resource executives with contemporary knowledge and practices in light of leading international research. The core feature of the programme is to provide executives an opportunity to learn from each other’s experiences and cross pollinate ideas for long-term impact within industry. The research intensive content of programme provides purview of Human Resource Management policies and practices on selection, retention, development, and compensation and performance appraisal.
Relevant case studies, interactive discussions and role specific simulation are used to create a parity between research and practical application of the learning from the programme. The pedagogical mix helps participants appreciate the frameworks and concepts learnt during case sessions and allows them to apply the concepts during simulation to reinforce learning.
