The Rausing Executive Development Centre (REDC) at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and the Dutch Embassy collaborated on a workshop on Dairy Economics, which took place at REDC from November 11-12, 2017.
Mr. Jelle Zijlstra from the world-renowned Wageningen University and Research Centre led the workshop. He flew in especially from the Netherlands to conduct this workshop. He has over 25 years of experience within the dairy sector. His recent projects have focused on the economic results of farm expansion, labour management on dairy farms, improving sustainability within the dairy chain and the development of national and international dairy sectors.
Sponsored by the Dutch Embassy, the workshop on Dairy Economics brought together key dairy sector stakeholders on a single platform to learn and share the best practices in dairy farm management and develop a unified understanding and vision to attain the sector’s potential. The workshop specifically focused on constraints and opportunities in the dairy sector, monitoring and evaluation of dairy farm performance and use of cost benefit analysis to evaluate best practices for optimisation.
The workshop was very well received by the diverse group of participants from the dairy sector, financial services, seeds, pesticides, farm owners and government departments. Participants praised and appreciated the interactive learning, REDC's ambiance, teaching expertise and in-depth knowledge of the faculty team.
Mr. Sarmad Nasir, a farm owner said, “This is a great platform to meet experts from the agriculture industry.”
