The National Outreach Programme (NOP) outreach would have been incomplete without visiting one of the most cosmopolitan cities of Pakistan, Karachi, which is home to a population of more than 20 million people, a breathtaking coast and talented students with ambitious dreams. Visiting cities such as Mirpur Khas, Tando Adam, Hyderabad and the base of Karachi, 17 colleges were approached and 1160 students were reached.
Karachi is known for its diversity and inclusive nature hence it was wonderful informing students about the diversity they would encounter at LUMS. Attendees of the LUMS and NOP sessions were made aware of the NOP Scholarship, the benefits of the NOP and how they can apply. Particular focus was given to educating students on the importance of widening their horizons and pursuing fields of education that truly inculcated their passion.
As part of NOPs continuous efforts to reach out to minorities and inform them this truly national scholarship, missionary schools were also visited and students from the Christian community were encouraged to apply to the NOP.
Yasir Ziad, Principal of AKHSS Karachi praised the initiative taken by LUMS to reach out to bright students across Pakistan while the Principal of Bahria Foundation College, Hyderabad remarked positively at how students who successfully attended the NOP Summer Coaching Session in previous years inspired their juniors to apply creating a positive chain of development and growth in the community.
