NOP Team Extends its Outreach Endeavours to Azad Kashmir

Tuesday, November 27, 2018

Traversing further North to the serene valleys and glorious peaks of Azad Kashmir, the LUMS National Outreach Programme (NOP) representatives conducted visits to various cities in the region from November 12 to 17, 2018.

Starting off in Rawalakot, the team stopped at 5 other cities including Khai Gala, Khrick, Kotli, Muzaffarabad and Dhirkot visiting a total of 17 colleges and introducing the Programme to more than 760 students.

Despite the copious and persistent rainfall throughout the week, school administrations were adamant in ensuring a maximum number of students attended the organised presentations. After providing details on the facilities available at LUMS as well as the benefits of the NOP Scholarship and the application process of the NOP Summer Coaching Session (SCS), engaging Q&A sessions took place where attendees inquired about academic disciplines being taught at LUMS and future prospects in terms of careers.

Feedback received from educators present was immensely positive with Senior Lecturer, Ms. Shagufta Rafique commending the initiative taken for students at the Army Public School & College, Rawalakot. Similarly, Principal Tariq A. Sheikh at the Reed Foundation Science College, Muzaffarabad praised the attempts made by the LUMS NOP to create more interdisciplinary awareness and hoped such sessions would be organised in the future as well.

An extremely touching aspect of this visit was that upon its conclusion, the NOP Outreach representatives were contacted by the Prime Minister’s Secretariat in Azad Kashmir who lauded the NOP sessions being held in regional colleges and pledged their complete support to the NOP in terms of spreading the message of the scholarship and in disseminating informative collateral.

To conclude, with the support of partners, educators and witnessing the ambition of students in Azad Kashmir, a myriad of promising applications will be received from Azad Kashmir for the NOP Summer Coaching Session 2019.
