Two students from the Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences (MGSHSS) undergraduate programme, Fatima Laraib and Sarim Jamal have been selected for an exchange semester with the School of International Liberal Studies (SILS), Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan, under the LUMS-WASEDA Student Exchange Programme. The Programme offers an opportunity to study at the SILS, Waseda University for the Fall Semester 2018-19.
Fatima Laraib is doing a double Major in Anthropology and Sociology and Political Science, while Sarim Jamal is an Economics and Politics Major.
The selection process was executed by the Office of Student Affairs, and all applications were carefully assessed on the basis of a written statement of purpose and one-on-one discussions with students shortlisted for interviews by an assigned panel that consisted of Mr. Yasser Hashmi, Dean, Student Affairs; Dr. Saba Pirzadeh, Faculty, MGSHSS; Dr. Muhammad Usman, Faculty, Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE) and Mr. Mazhar Mohsin Chinoy, Director, Office of Student Affairs.
The Exchange Programme is funded by the Mitsubishi Corporation which provides financial support to the selected students, inclusive of their tuition fee and living expenses in Japan.
