Dr. Kashif Zaheer Malik, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences (MGSHSS) has been awarded research funding by the Department for International Development (DfID) under the Health and Nutrition Innovation Fund (HANIF) Initiative.
Dr. Malik’s research project, titled “Creating and Utilising Comic Books to Bridge Knowledge Gaps of Child Health in Rural Okara, Punjab” focuses on the distribution of comic books in households in the rural district Okara in order to address the gaps in maternal knowledge regarding basic health issues amongst children. These comics will include graphics and culturally appropriate wording to assess and improve maternal knowledge of women of child bearing age to study the main causes of childhood mortality in Pakistan among children less than five years of age. The project has been awarded PKR 5.02 million for a duration of 10 months. The grant is jointly managed by the Department for International Development (DfID) and Palladium Pakistan (Pvt.) Limited.
