The Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences (MGSHSS) organised its annual Dean’s Honours List ceremony on November 16, 2018. The event was held to recognise the outstanding academic achievements of students for the academic year 2017–18. Over 130 parents were invited to celebrate their children’s accomplishments along with faculty members from across the School attended the event as well.
The event began with Dean MGSHSS, Dr. Kamran Asdar Ali’s welcome address, followed by brief remarks by the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Arshad Ahmad and the Rector, Mr. Shahid Hussain. Subsequently, Mr. Shahid Hussain handed out the Ferozesons Awards for excellence in the fields of teaching and research at MGSHSS. Sons of the recently departed, Dr. Ahmad Bilal Awan (Gurmani Center for Languages and Literature) received the teaching award on his behalf while Professor Rasul Bakhsh Rais (Department of Humanities and Social Sciences) and Dr. Syed Zahid Ali (Department of Economics) were also presented with research awards. This was followed by the distribution of certificates to each student on the Dean’s Honours List by Mr. Hussain and the Vice Chancellor. The ceremony concluded with high tea at the central courtyard.
