The Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences (MGSHSS) organised its annual Deans’ Honour List (DHL) ceremony on November 2, 2017. The event was held to recognise the outstanding academic achievements of students in the School during the academic year 2016-2017. In order that the parents may share in the joy of their children’s accomplishment, the Gurmani School was the first School to invite them to be part of the ceremony. Over 100 parents were present at the occasion along with students and faculty from across the School.
The Deans’ Honours List started with the opening address of Dean Dr. Kamran Asdar Ali. This was followed by brief remarks from the Pro-Chancellor Syed Babar Ali, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. S. Sohail H. Naqvi and member of the Management Committee Mr. Osman Waheed.
Syed Babar Ali also gave out the Ferozsons Awards for excellence for teaching and research in the Gurmani School. Dr. Husnain Fateh from the Department of Economics received the teaching award while Dr. Ali Usman Qasmi and Dr. Tania Saeed both from the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences shared the research award jointly.
Following this, each student on the Deans’ Honours List received their certificates for outstanding academic performance from Mr. Osman Waheed.
The ceremony concluded with Syed Babar Ali and Mr. Osman Waheed being presented a selection of books published by the faculty at the Gurmani School. This was followed by high tea in the central courtyard.
The Gurmani School would again like to congratulate all those students named below and thank all the staff members who worked tirelessly to make this function a success.
