The Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences (MGSHSS) organised its Dean’s Honour List ceremony on October 18, 2019. The event, held annually, recognises the outstanding academic achievements of students for the academic year 2018-19. Faculty members from the School also attended the event, as well as parents of the high achieving students.
The event began with Provost and Acting Dean, MGSHSS, Dr. Kamran Asdar Ali’s welcome address, and he praised the students for their hard work and congratulated them on their achievement. Mr. Osman Khalid Waheed and Ms. Saima Khawaja, Members, Board of Trustees LUMS, then handed out the LUMS Awards for excellence in the fields of teaching and research at MGSHSS to Dr. Nadhra S. Khan, Associate Professor, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (Research), Dr. Syed M. Hasan, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics (Research), Dr. Nauman Faizi, Assistant Professor, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (Teaching), and Mr. Usman Elahi, Teaching Fellow, Department of Economics (Teaching).
The teaching and research awards were followed by the distribution of certificates to the students on the Dean’s Honour List by Mr. Waheed, Ms. Khawaja, Dr. Ali, Dr. Hassan H. Karrar, Associate Professor, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Dr. Syed Ali Hasanain, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics. Thirty five students received the Chaudary Nazar Mohammad Award (Third Year Achievement), 58 students received the Manzurul Haq Award (Second Year Achievement) and 52 students received the Abdul Razaq Dawood Award (First Year Achievement). At the conclusion of the ceremony, guests gathered over high tea at the central courtyard.
